A decade of illegal dumping

“The piles of debris have been growing for nearly ten years. Because the land is unclaimed and lacks surveillance, people have been dumping their waste there for a long time,” says Srijana, speaking about how long the issue is pertaining in the locality.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner is also thinking about a tentative plans, while they have also invited feedback from the residents regarding the same.

What are the tentative plans?

The officials are now looking at two ways to clean up the area. However the project is yet to begin. Moving it away: Loading all the waste into trucks and taking it to a dedicated waste processing facility. Cleaning it on the spot: Using special machinery to process and clear the debris right where it is.

"We are currently working out the logistics, including the time required and the costs for both approaches," the Commissioner said. The goal is to clear the land so it can be used for something useful for the public.
