Half-day schools in Telangana begin from March 15

Hyderabad: The Telangana School Education Department has officially announced the implementation of half-day schools across the state for the 2025-26 academic year.

The order, issued by the Director of School Education, Dr E Naveen Nicolas, mandates a change in timings effective March 15.

According to the official proceedings, all Primary, Upper Primary, and High Schools under government, government-aided, and private management will function from 8 am to 12:30 pm, with mid-day meals provided at 12:30 pm.

When is the last working day for summer break?

Meanwhile, the last working day for this academic year would be on April 23, 2026.

The directive also outlines specific arrangements for Class X students and SSC examination centres, such as:

SSC Preparation: Special classes for Class X students preparing for the SSC Public Examinations, March 2026, will continue as scheduled.

Examination Centres: Schools designated as SSC Examination Centres will function from 1 pm to 5 pm on the days of the exams.

On all other days, these schools will follow the standard half-day timing of 8 am to 12:30 pm.

Regional Joint Directors of School Education and District Educational Officers have been directed to communicate these orders to all school managements across the state and ensure strict compliance.
