Halt construction, stop waste dumping in Machabollaram: HYDRAA boss Ranganath to Ramky Group
Hyderabad: HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath has directed the Ramky Group to halt ongoing construction activities and stop dumping of waste at Machabollaram in Alwal Mandal.
Ranganath inspected the Hindu cemetery located near the Motukula Kunta lake in Machabollaram, Alwal mandal.
The visit comes after a Machabollaram Residents Welfare Association Joint Action Committee filed a complaint accusing Ramky of encroaching on the Hindu cremation ground and utilizing it as a waste dump, resulting in a terrible odor in the region.
The HYDRAA Commissioner examined Ramki Group's waste dumping and works carried out without authorization in the area where 15.19 acres of land were set aside for a Hindu cemetery in Survey No.199.
A large number of locals met the Commissioner during his visit. Women also came in large numbers and explained their problems to Ranganath.

The Commissioner stated that the issue had also been brought to Minister Sridhar Babu's attention by MP Eatala Rajender, MLA Rajasekhar Reddy, and former MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao. Sridhar Babu had asked the HYDRAA and GHMC Commissioners to take the appropriate steps.
āWe have examined the complaints that two acres of land have been allocated to the Ramky Group, but construction is being carried out on up to three to four acres of government land here,ā Ranganath said.
He also ensured that no government land was encroached upon and added that the ongoing waste dumping within residential areas was unacceptable.
The HYDRAA Commissioner assured residents that the proposal to shift the dumping yard would be taken up with the state government. Ranganath's prompt action was appreciated by the residents. "The intolerable stink is causing us to suffer. We appreciate the Commissioner's quick visit to the location and on-site assessment of the problem," they said.
