Hyderabad: Rachakonda police safely rescued four-year-old Krishna Veni, hours after she was kidnapped in Ghatkesar. Rachakonda commissioner DS Chauhan handed Krishna Veni to her parents on Thursday.


As per the police, Krishna Veni was kidnapped near her house on Wednesday night. She was lured with chocolates and was allegedly kidnapped to be sold to a childless couple. The accused, Suresh, has been taken into custody at Secunderabad railway station.

According to the police, Suresh lives near the victim’s house. He found his opportunity to abduct the child around 8 pm on Wednesday while she went to a local shop to buy chocolates.

When Krishna Veni did not return home, her parents filed a complaint with the Ghatkesar police who immediately began search operations forming special teams. The accused was found at Secunderabad railway station with the girl.

“We formed special teams within hours of receiving the complaint. All CCTV cameras in the vicinity were checked and we noticed Suresh wandering suspiciously in the railway station premises,” said the commissioner. The police then tracked Suresh down and found Krishna Veni with him.

The commissioner thanked the youth of Ghatkesar village who also participated in the search to save the child.

“Irrespective of the crime committed within the jurisdiction of the commissionerate, the accused will be caught within 24 hours. The safety of girls and women is given importance and any case related to them will be taken seriously,” said the commissioner.

It is noteworthy that the locals raised ‘Zindabad Rachakonda Commissioner’ slogans after seeing the child coming back in smiles.
