Hyderabad: More than 83 percent target has been achieved and over 208 lakh trees have been planted under the Haritha Haram project till November 10.

Telangana Ku Haritha Haram (TKHH) is the flagship programme of the Chief Minister to increase the Green Cover, Aesthetic value, control the pollution and temperature.

Around 208.88 lakh trees have been planted and 83.55% target achieved by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation under Haritha Haram till November 10.

For the year 2020, a target of 250 lakh trees have been fixed under Haritha Haram for GHMC.

GHMC is taking up tree plantation under various categories like Avenue Plantations, Colony Plantations, Institutional Plantations, Open Space Plantations, Graveyard Plantations, etc as part of TKHH.

The plantations are being carried out in 405 layout open spaces. These spaces are being converted into "TREE PARKS" with walking tracks and seating areas.

At 65 locations, dense plantations on the lines of Yadadri Natural Forest Model (Miyawaki) plantations have been taken up. At present drive is on to plant 9,41,187 plants.

500 nurseries are being readied in GHMC during this month for the supply of plants to Haritha Haram Programme for 2021. All these nurseries are geo-tagged and uploaded on the TGFMIS website.

A target of 25 lakh plants for each zone has been fixed. A total of 150 lakh trees are to be planted area in 500 nurseries for 2021.

GHMC Act has been amended and 10% of the total budget has been earmarked for the development of Greenery in GHMC area. Plus Green Budget has been allocated in the estimates.
