HC dismisses plea seeking action against KCR for alleged derogatory speech

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court Chief Justice Bench on Friday dismissed a writ petition filed seeking a direction to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Telangana to initiate action against the chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao for alleged demeaning and defamatory speech against Congress party leaders and workers.

The Chief Justice Bench, while hearing the senior counsel for the petitioner Balmoori Venkat Narsing Rao, said that it is too early for the petitioner to approach the high court with the writ petition.

“The writ petition is premature,” the court said. It said that the petitioner gave a complaint to the ECI and the CEO of Telangana on November 3 and approached the High Court without giving time for the election officials to process the complaint.

The Chief Justice Bench was hearing the writ petition filed by Balmoori Venkat Narsing Rao, President of NSUI of Telangana State seeking a direction to the ECI and CEO of Telangana to initiate action against K Chandrashekar Rao, chief minister of Telangana for passing derogatory comments against the Congress party leaders and its cadre in the public meeting held at BRS Praja Ashirvada Sabha, Banswada Constituency on October 30 this year.
