Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court directed the state to find out the value of the lands allotted to the Velama and Kamma communities for the construction of their community centres in Khanamet Village, Serilingampally Mandal, Ranga Reddy District.
The Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Justice T Vinod Kumar on Monday, was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by A Vinayak Reddy, a retired professor of economics at Kakatiya University in Warangal, who questioned the action of the Telangana State Government in allotting five acres of land each to the Velama and Kamma communities for the construction of their respective community bhavans.
The court issued the above direction after the advocate general Banda Shivananda Prasad informed the court that the state government has allotted the land to the All-India Velama Association and the Kamma Vari Seva Sanghala as per the governmentās valuation of the land.
During an earlier round of hearings, the High Court, on June 28, stayed the GO 47 of the Revenue Association II Department, dated June 6, 2021, allotting the land to the two communities, and made it clear that the allotment of the said lands will be subject to the outcome of the PIL.
The court ordered the response to be filed within two weeks.
