Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court Division on Tuesday issued bailable warrants against R Manjula, tahsildar of Alampur mandal in Jogulamba Gadwal district in Telangana for issuing a false residential certificate.

The HC Bench, comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice NV Shravan Kumar, directed tahsildar R Manjula to appear before the court on November 10 and explain the reasons for issuing a false residential certificate to an MBBS/BDS aspirant.

During the earlier course of the hearing, the court expressed doubt about the authenticity of the residential certificate which stated that the petitioner is a local candidate.

Singotam Vennela, petitioner and an aspiring MBBS/BDS student who sought admission for the academic year 2023-24 had challenged the decision of the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences in Warangal, which rejected her candidature as a local candidate.

The court, in its earlier round of hearing, raised serious doubts about the authenticity of the residential certificate issued by the tahsildar treating Vennela as a resident of Alampur for more than 15 years.

The court had raised serious doubts regarding the authenticity and validity of this certificate, prompting further investigation into the circumstances under which it was issued.

The Division Bench further directed tahsildar Manjula to furnish an explanation for issuing a false residential certificate within two weeks. Though the tahsildar was given an opportunity to furnish her explanation and the failure on her part to give an explanation, bailable warrants were issued.

The case was adjourned to November 10.
