HCA demanded extra tickets from SunRisers : Vigilance report

Hyderabad: A preliminary report by the Vigilance and Enforcement Department has reportedly validated serious allegations leveled by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).

It has recommended disciplinary action against key HCA officials for misconduct during the Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

Probe triggered by ticket dispute

The investigation was initiated by the state government through Vigilance Commission after SRH accused HCA officials including its president A Jagan Mohan Rao, secretary R Devraj and others of pressuring the franchise for additional complimentary tickets beyond the agreed quota.

As per the probe's findings, SRH was already providing 10 percent of match tickets free of charge to HCA, by established norms. Despite this, the HCA secretary allegedly demanded an additional 10 percent, which SRH refused.

Allegations against HCA president

The report further notes that HCA president A Jagan Mohan Rao made a similar request for an extra 10 percent of tickets for personal use. Upon the franchise’s refusal, he allegedly retaliated by creating logistical obstacles.

Operational hurdles during IPL match

One such incident occurred during an SRH match against the Lucknow SuperGiants, where HCA staff reportedly locked VIP galleries, disrupting SRH’s match-day operations and arrangements.

State government to act on report

The vigilance team has submitted its preliminary report to the state government, which is now expected to consider further action against the officials involved.

HCA yet to receive official communication

When NewsMeter reached out for a response, an HCA representative, speaking on the condition of anonymity, claimed they had not been informed about the report being submitted to the government.
