Headless SC, ST Commission: Telangana HC seeks date about filling up vacancies

Telangana HC seeks state’s response over 2-year delay in appointing finance commission board.

Hyderabad: Telangana High Court has asked the Chief Secretary to give the specific date when the chairman and members of the SC and ST Commission will be appointed.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji directed the Chief Secretary to apprise the Court by which date the BRS government will appoint the chairman and members of the SC and ST Commission.

During the course of the hearing, Chief Justice Ujjal asked the government counsel that the posts of chairman and members at the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Commission have been lying vacant since February 2021.

During the earlier course of the hearing, the Court had issued notices to the BRS government directing it to appoint the chairman and members to the SC, ST Commission.

The court was adjudicating the petition filed by S. Ganesh Rao seeking a direction to the BRS Govt., to fill up the vacancies of chairman and members to the Telangana Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

The matter has been adjourned to June 28.
