Heavy rains to lash Hyderabad, surrounding districts; no trace of 3 swept away in stormwater drains

Hyderabad: Hyderabad and the surrounding districts are likely to witness heavy rainfall during evening hours.

A massive trough line is expected to pass through the Hyderabad region on Tuesday. This would result in very heavy rainfall in Hyderabad and surrounding districts, including Medak, Sangareddy, Kamareddy, Siddipet, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Yadadri-Bhongir, Nizamabad, Jagitial, and Sircilla.

While Hyderabad will have dry weather till afternoon, widespread heavy rains are expected from evening.

In the last two days, heavy rains lashed Hyderabad, flooding key roads and bringing the city’s traffic to a crawl. Several areas, including Musheerabad, Nampally, and Parsigutta, were left submerged after intense rainfall overwhelmed the city’s drainage system.

Two persons in Afzalsagar, Asifnagar, and one in Vinodnagar Colony, Parsigutta were swept away in stormwater drains. Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Monday intensified search operations to trace the missing persons.

HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath, who personally monitored the search operation, asked the teams to open catch pits and nalas along the flow routes before resealing them.
