It may be recalled that post-inter-caste marriage, Yogi Hemanth Kumar was abducted and murdered by family members and hired assassins in September 2020. Avanti and Hemant had grown up at Chandanagar in Serilingampally Mandal. They fell in love, and later got married without the consent of elders. Hemanth belonged to the Vyshya community, while Avanthi came from Reddys. After the wedding, the Chandanagar police counseled both families.
In the bail petition, the accused contended that they were falsely implicated without any relation to the crime. The accused said they were acquainted with Laxma Reddy, the father of the girl, but had no role in the crime.
The public prosecutor informed the Court that complainant Avanthi who is the eye witness had identified the petitioners.
Counsel Verose Raghunath representing witness Avanthi informed the Court that the petitioners along with Yugendhar Reddy, a relative of Avanthi, had abducted Hemanth from the ORR and killed him by strangulation. Counsel Raghunath contended that there is strong evidence against the petitioners and their release would hamper the ongoing trial.
After hearing the submissions, Justice D. Nagarjun, rejected the bail petition.
