On Friday morning, a fire broke out at the Secretariat building days before its inauguration. The incident comes close on the heels of a massive fire that ravaged the Deccan Knitwear building.
On January 19, a fire broke out at the Deccan Knitwear building. It caused panic among the residents. Dense smoke engulfed the building located on Minister Road. Thirteen people were inside the building at the time of the fire. Ten were later rescued. Three people lost their lives, but traces were not found.
On Feb 2, a fire broke out in a tent house cum godown at Chikkadpally on the morning. Local people alerted the police control room following which fire tenders rushed to the spot. Thick smoke billowed out of the godown where a huge quantity of combustible material was stored. Panic gripped the area. Officials suspected that a short circuit led to the fire.
On Feb 3, Friday, a fire broke out at the Telangana Secretariat building. The building was set to be inaugurated on February 17. The fire started at 2:30 am on the ground floor and quickly spread to the first and second floors. It took 11 fire engines to bring it under control. It is still not known what caused the fire.
