Hyderabad: As many as 19 persons have been booked in criminal cases for illegally tapping drinking water pipelines in the city.

Vigilance action on MD’s orders
Acting on the directions of HMWSSB Managing Director Ashok Reddy, the vigilance wing conducted inspections and identified unauthorised water connections drawn directly from HMWSSB supply lines.
The illegal connections were immediately removed and criminal cases were registered against the violators.

Strict warning to public
HMWSSB officials issued a stern warning that anyone obtaining drinking water or sewerage connections without due permission would face criminal prosecution.
The water board reiterated that all connections must be taken only after formal approval and payment of prescribed charges.
Where to report illegal water connections?
Citizens who notice illegal water or sewerage connections can report them to the HMWSSB vigilance wing at 9989998100 or 9989987135, officials said, assuring prompt action on credible information.
