How Punjagutta inspector tried to protect ex-Bodhan MLA Mohd Shakil's son; suspended

Hyderabad: Commissioner of Police K Sreenivas Reddy has suspended Panjagutta inspector B.Durga Rao for falsely implicating the driver of former Bodhan MLA Mohommad Shakil instead of his son in a road accident case.

What Happened?

On December 23, a speedy BMW car bearing No-TS 13 ET 0777 hit the Traffic barricade opposite the CM camp office. The barricade was completely damaged in the incident.

Car driver Abdul Asif from Maharastra was made the accused and issued notice. The driver even came forward to accept the offence.

Driver’s version to the cops

During the investigation, cops recorded the detailed statement of the driver and all their mutual friends.

While the investigation was in progress, Abdul Asif failed to submit a reply to the notice under section 41(A) Cr.PC and went absconding. On reliable information, he was apprehended and brought to the police station.

On interrogation, the accused Abdul Asif voluntarily admitted the guilt in the commission of the offence along with his associate Sahil alias Raheel Amir alias Baba.

In 2021 the accused came to Hyderabad from his native place and joined as a car driver at Mohd Shakil, ex-MLA Bodan of Nizamabad on a salary of Rs. 18,000. He was also provided with boarding and lodging. Another person Sohial also worked as a car driver at Mohommad Shakil. Former MLA has seven to ten cars.

Before the accident, Mohd Shakil’s family went to Dubai. Only his son Raheel Amir was present in his house. On December 23, the accused along with his friends left his BMW car.

Later the accused called the driver informing him that there was an accident at Panjagutta Flyover, near Bhima Jewelery, and asked him to take another car hurriedly. Immediately he along with another driver Sohial rushed to the spot. Raheel was huddled in another car and sent away. The driver was asked to own the accident and inform the police that he was driving the BMW.

Acting on the direction, the driver surrendered and told the police that he was driving the car at the time of the accident.

But was he the actual accused?

On Dec 23, former Bodhan MLA’s son was driving the BMW car in a drunken condition. At 0342 hours, he called his driver and informed him that he crashed the car into a traffic barricade. The intensity of the crash was so high that the barricades were blown into the air. The ex-MLA's son asked the driver to take another car and reach the spot. The accused was whisked away from the spot as if he wasn’t present at the time of the accident. They told the driver not to disclose that former MLA’s son was driving the car at the time of the accident.

The driver even convinced the police that he was the one driving the car that crashed into the traffic barricade.

Cops arrested the driver while former MLA Bodan‘s son Raheel Amir alias Baba is absconding. Punjagutta Inspector has been suspended for mishandling the case.
