Rachakonda Traffic Police saved the life of a man who slipped into the Kolanupaka Culvert in Alair, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, on Sunday evening.

Jula Srikanth (39) of Bachannapet Mandal in the Jangaon district was riding his motorcycle when he fell into the stream due to heavy water flow at the Kolanupaka culvert.

When they saw him, Traffic ASI P. Veda Vyas, PC Shaik Abdul Kalam, and Crane driver MD Hussain, who was assigned to regulate traffic in the area, rushed to the scene and saved the motorist's life with the assistance of villagers and other staff.

According to Srikanth, he was attempting to cross the stretch when he slipped due to the heavy flow of water and fell into the stream. Fortunately, he grabbed a large log and a pipeline to keep himself from being washed away.

As the flow of water increases, the road has been completely closed with stoppers on both sides.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has instructed the chief secretary to alert the Collectors and SPs of all the districts of the Godavari catchment area including Kothagudem and Mulugu, under the backdrop of heavy rains in the upper riparian region as the flood flow of Godavari increasing steadily and crossing 9 lakh cusecs.
