Hyderabad: The year-long centenary celebrations of Hyderabad Public School (HPS), Begumpet, are set to reach their zenith with a grand finale from December 24 to 27.
The event, consisting of over 50 activities curated for students, staff, alumni, and parents, will be inaugurated on December 19, as announced by Gusti J Noria, President of the HPS Society.
The HPS Society has revealed plans for the grand finale, including an investment of Rs 17.5 crore for a greenfield multi-utility sports center designed by renowned architect Hafeez Contractor. Additionally, Rs 10 crore will be allocated for an innovation center, akin to T-Hub, to foster entrepreneurship.
This initiative, funded by HPS alumni, will make HPS the only school in the country to boast such a facility, spanning 15,000 square feet, dedicated to hands-on learning experiences in robotics and AI.
The grand finale week will kick off with an exclusive centenary dinner on December 24 at Taj Falaknuma Palace, aiming to raise funds for the HPS Centenary Sports Center.
From December 25 to 27, over 15,000 people, including distinguished guests and alumni from around the world, are expected to converge on the campus to celebrate 100 years of the school, making it one of the largest celebrations held by any school in India.
The week's events will encompass a diverse range of activities, including an HPS Carnival, a museum showcasing the echoes of time, an entrepreneurship summit called HPS StartX, a sports reunion, a Centenary Golf Tournament, a vintage car showcase, speed networking sessions, book readings, panel discussions, workshops, a time capsule deposition, a concert featuring Shankar Ehsan Loy, and much more.
Gusti J Noria expressed the significance of these celebrations, stating, "The grand finale celebrations are a testament to our last 100 years of legacy, leadership, and excellence looking towards the future to lead, serve, and soar."
HPS, known for its philanthropic initiatives, provides donors with 80G tax exemptions and holds an FCRA license for foreign donations. The school actively promotes educational philanthropy, a concept popular in the Western world.
