Hyderabad: Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, inaugurated its world-class Olympic-size swimming pool on March 31. It is the country's first school to not only feature an Olympic-sized pool but also to offer artistic and acrobatic swimming instruction.

The school's mission is to provide its pupils with international training in artistic swimming and aquatic acrobatics, as well as to produce ace swimmers in all disciplines.

The school has invested more than Rs. 25 crore in developing a sporting ecosystem that comprises modern infrastructure, the necessary coaches and trainers, and the know-how in these areas to mold its children into world-class athletes capable of winning Olympic medals.

To commemorate the occasion, the world-famous 'Kazakh Synchro Stars,' an artistic swimming group comprised of world and Olympic winners, were invited to the Hyderabad Public School. The pool was inaugurated by Chief Guest Vakati Karuna, Secretary, the Education Department, and Chairperson of the HPS, Begumpet Board of Governors. Among those in attendance was Guest of Honour Monal Chokshi, Secretary General of the Swimming Federation of India.

Gusti J. Noria, President of Hyderabad Public School, stated, "In keeping with our goal of fostering academic and extracurricular success, HPS has embarked on an ambitious quest to create world-class athletes. Today's opening of the Olympic-size swimming pool and the launch of artistic and aquatic training programs is another step towards accomplishing our ambition."

"It is a source of great satisfaction for us that our HPS alumni have been actively involved in the institution's development. I'd want to thank everyone who has generously contributed to the swimming pool."

The beautiful and acrobatic maneuvers of the Kazakh Synchro Stars captivated the crowd. The members of the national Kazakh squad include Yrenchenko Valentina, Aida Meimantay, and Yekaterina Simonova, bronze medalists in Team Technical Routine, and Akhbasheva Adelyem, Asian champion in artistic synchronized swimming in free solo (women).

Several notable swimmers including Aliya Karimova, Alexandra Nemich, Yakaterina Nemich, and Arna Toktagan, who had excellent Olympic duet appearances, also contributed to the school's stellar success.

A swimming pool of Olympic size as the one inaugurated at HPS refers to pool dimensions large enough for international tournaments.

Located in the HPS swimming complex, the pool dimension is 50 meters by 21 meters. It has a deck surface of 16,000 square feet and eight lanes. The complex can accommodate around 1000 people.

Hyderabad Public School, also known as HPS, was founded 100 years ago and is one of the oldest educational institutions in the country, educating tomorrow's leaders.
