Hyderabad: Pet owners and animal lovers will now be able to say a proper goodbye to animals. On December 6, the city is poised to unveil a first-of-its-kind animal cremation at Fathullaguda in Nagole.

The 3-acre crematorium has been set up with the idea to provide dignified and respectful last rites to the animals.

As per the Pollution Control Board (PCB) norms, the space is set up in such a way that there will be zero emissions. The crematorium is also equipped with an LPF incinerator.

People for Animals (PFA), an Animal Welfare Organization recognised by the Animal Welfare Board of India, and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation collaborated to build the crematorium (GHMC).

An amount of Rs 1 crore was spent on various costs of construction, machinery and more.

The costs for construction were borne by GHMC while PFA bore the costs of machinery, installation and more.

The crematorium can incinerate/cremate four dogs per cycle, with a total cremation period of roughly two hours.

The Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) has issued a Consent Order for Establishment and a Consent Order for Operation, in which exhaustive conditions to control air, water, soil, and noise pollution within permissible levels are laid out. Further, the facility has agreed to comply with all PCB regulations from time to time.

In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between GHMC and PFA under which the PFA will collect user fees from pet parents for the cremation of their cherished pets.
