Hyd international airport wins top TS energy conservation award
The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) of Hyderabad has won the gold award in the Telangana State Energy Conservation Awards 2020 (TSECA) for its initiatives to conserve energy.

The Telangana state renewable energy development corporation ltd. (TSREDC) annual forum recognises companies engaged in energy-efficiency initiatives that adopt best practices and technological advancement in their daily operations. The jury evaluated the participants on many parameters and innovative thought process adopted.
Over the last three years, Hyderabad airport's energy conservation initiatives have led to substantial energy savings that has also led to a rapid dip in greenhouse gas emissions at the airport. It is worth noting that Hyderabad international airport is also a carbon-neutral airport and has level 3+ 'neutrality' accreditation from the Airports Council International (ACI) under its airport carbon accreditation (ACA) programme.
Senior officials from Hyderabad received the award presented by D. Prabhakar Rao, the CMD of Telangana Transco and Genco, and Sandeep Kumar Sultania, the secretary (PR&RD), on the last day (20 December) of the energy conservation week celebrations at Dr. MCRHRD Institute of Telangana, Hyderabad.
"The award is a testimony to GHIAL's commitment towards energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. As a socially responsible organisation, we are committed to the best energy-conserving practices. GHIAL's energy and water-saving initiatives have been recognised by many industry platforms and this recognition from the Telangana government will be very special among them," said Pradeep Panicker, the CEO of GHIAL
Recently, GHIAL had also won the prestigious CII-Green Power Performance Excellence Awards 2020 in the 'ground mounted solar' category. Hyderabad airport had won CII's prestigious 'national energy leader award' in 2019 and 2020 and it has continuously won the excellent energy-efficient trophy since 2017 at the CII- GBC flagship energy management program ā National Award for Excellence in Energy management.
