Hyderabad: The commissioner's task force, south zone team, Hyderabad along with the Shainayathgunj police apprehended four people who were operating a hawala racket in and around the city. The police seized unaccounted cash of Rs. 1.10 crores and four mobile phones from their possession.
The accused are Kamlesh (47), Ashok Kumar (35), Rahul Agarwal (28), and Ratan Singh (25)
According to the police, Kamlesh, the main accused, is a resident of Chudi Bazar and runs a plastic bag business in Begumbazar, Hyderabad. He devised a plan to run a hawala racket in and around the city because he was not making enough money from his business. He shared his plan with Rahul, who agreed to join the venture. Kamlesh also arranged for workers Ashok Kumar and Ratan Singh to pick up and deliver the money to the customers.
Based on credible information, the south zone task force team, along with Shainayathgunj police, conducted vehicle checks at MJ Bridge in Jummerath bazaar on the evening of 20 October. They searched a vehicle and discovered a large amount of cash in a black polythene cover.
They apprehended the four accused, seized the cash, and handed them over to the SHO of Shainayathgunj police station for further investigation.
