Traffic police have decided to launch a massive social media campaign to create awareness about road safety and reduce congestion in Hyderabad.

Traffic police have decided to launch a massive social media campaign to create awareness about road safety and reduce congestion in Hyderabad. The decision was taken during the traffic review meeting chaired by City police commissioner CV Anand.

"Ensure all the field personnel welfare has been taken care of and leverage the digital campaigns through social media platforms to create more awareness on the importance of road discipline which eventually leads to safe and congestion-free roads," said Anand.

City police commissioner CV Anand urged all senior officers to lead from the front. He called for exploring more engineering measures to reduce traffic congestion. He instructed the officers to be proactive and initiate measures to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic.

Joint Commissioner of Police, traffic, Ranganath briefed the city police chief about the strength, infrastructure, technology platforms, the steep surge in the number .of vehicles, and other issues.

Anand, who worked as the city traffic chief for 3 years, is known for his reforms and smart management. He stressed on 3 Golden Es of traffic management to ensure smooth flow of vehicular movement in the city

"Liaising with other government departments, community members and establishments is very important. Senior officers must conduct surprise checks and spend time at junctions to get first-hand information about the hindrances. Initiate experiments in the field followed by the proper study as it eventually benefits the city commuters, " he said.

Instructions were also issued to study under-utilized roads, free lefts, effective enforcement, and education. "I will accord top priority in allocating manpower, budgets, and other resources to the traffic wing. This is the only wing that touches 100% population in the city," he said.

He appreciated the traffic cops for streamlining traffic during different events.

Others who attended the meeting include N.Prakash Reddy, DCP, Traffic-I, P. Karunakar, DCP Traffic-II, Hyderabad, S. RangaRao, Additional DCP Tr.I, S. Prasad, Additional DCP Tr.II, All ACsP, Inspectors, and SIs of the Traffic wing.
