Hyd woman sexually assaulted by 2 men posing as HDFC bank executives
According to the police, the victim had gone to Sangli, Maharashtra, to attend a wedding and had returned to the city on Tuesday along with her cousin.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 10 March 2021 10:07 AM GMTHyderabad: Two unidentified men claiming to be executives of HDFC Bank barged into a home under the pretext of selling a new policy and sexually assaulted a woman at BS Maktha in Hyderabad. The incident took place on 8 March, on the occasion of international women's day, and came to light after the victim approached the police on Wednesday.
According to the police, the victim had gone to Sangli, Maharashtra, to attend a wedding and had returned to the city on Tuesday along with her cousin. She was alone at home after her cousin left for work. She ordered food, which arrived at around 11.30 a.m, and was eating when she heard the doorbell ring. She went to check but there was nobody.
The doorbell rang again at around 12.30 p.m and when she opened the door, there was nobody there. She then closed the main door but not the front gate. She heard the doorbell ring a third time and when she opened the door, she saw two men in formal clothes, wearing masks, and carrying files. They said they were from HDFC Bank and had come regarding a new policy.
She refused their offer and tried to close the door but the men forced their way in. One of the men approached the victim while the other stood guard outside. The police found that the victim had tried to escape and had attacked her assailant with a helmet but he had held her by the neck. She had also tried to remove his mask but he had pinned her to the wall. He then stripped her and sexually assaulted her. He also hit her with a water bottle.
The police found that the entire episode lasted around 20 minutes and the two men fled the scene after that. The victim informed her parents of the incident and with their help, she approached the police and lodged a complaint on Wednesday.
Based on the victim's complaint, the police have registered a case under various sections of the IPC. The police also said the woman has been sent for medical examination.
