Hyderabad: A woman passenger was killed and 15 others injured when a private travel bus overturned on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Narsingi.

According to the Narsingi police, the driver was under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred.

The deceased has been identified as Mamata, 33, from Ongole. The injured passengers were shifted to a nearby private hospital for treatment. A preliminary breath analyzer test conducted on the driver revealed severe intoxication. The driver has been detained by the police.

The incident occurred within fifteen minutes of the bus's departure from Hyderabad. The bus was on its way to Puducherry. Operated by Morning Star Travels, the bus was carrying eighteen passengers at the time. The accident happened near Alekhya Rise Towers on the ORR.

Initial reports suggest that the road was wet due to rain, and the bus lost control while taking a turn, hitting the divider. Due to excessive speed, the bus crossed the divider, hit the side road, and overturned. The impact shattered the windows, causing Mamata to fall out of the bus and suffer fatal injuries. Other passengers sustained head and hand injuries.

Following the accident, traffic from Appa Junction to Gachibowli was diverted for several hours. A case has been registered and an investigation launched.
