Hyderabad: 1800 kg adulterated ginger-garlic paste seized; 2 held

Hyderabad: Rajendra Nagar Zone Police raided two illegal units for manufacturing adulterated ginger-garlic paste at Sasthripuram and Udangadda.
Two persons were arrested, and 1800 kilos of adulterated food products and other equipment were seized.
Raids in Sasthripuram and Udangadda
Acting on credible information, the police conducted raids at two locations — H.No. 8-14-12/A near Baba Kanta in Sasthripuram and H.No. 8-5-62 near the railway track in Udangadda.

Use of hazardous chemicals
Police said the accused mixed salt and hazardous chemicals such as Titanium Dioxide and Xanthan Gum powder to increase the thickness and enhance the colour of the paste.
Synthetic food colouring (Lemon Yellow) was also being used. Authorities noted that the adulterated products posed a serious threat to public health.
Two accused arrested
The arrested persons were identified as Abdul Aleem (25), owner of Standard Food Products and a resident of Bahadurpura, and Jasani Dildar Ali (46), a businessman residing in Abids.
Huge stock seized
During the raids, police seized 1,800 kg of ginger-garlic paste, along with 2 kg of Xanthan Gum, 2 kg of Titanium Dioxide, synthetic food colour, and machinery used for manufacturing and packing the product.
The equipment seized includes seven packing machines, three grinding machines, and two weighing machines.
Cases registered
Cases have been registered at Mailardevpally Police Station under Crime Numbers 232/2026 and 233/2026 under Sections 318(4) and 274 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police said further investigation is underway.
