Hyderabad: 21-year-old student stalked, abducted by ‘college mate’; escapes from bathroom window

Hyderabad: A 21-year-old first-year architecture student faced an ordeal on Wednesday evening when she was stalked and abducted by a person named Prashanth, who claimed to be a fellow student studying BTech at her college.

According to the Masab Tank police, the incident occurred around 5:30 pm when the student was heading home from college. According to her statement, Prashanth came to her and took her phone claiming to be from the same college. Then he asked her to wait for him while he got his bike. Feeling uneasy, the student proceeded to book an Uber and hid behind a car. Prashanth continued to contact her, pressuring her to meet him on the other side of the college gate.

In an attempt to avoid Prashanth, she took an alternative route but found herself pursued by him and two other men who claimed to be Prashanth’s friends. The friends allegedly threatened her and insisted she ride with them, claiming they would take her home. With no other option, she reluctantly agreed.

They coerced her onto the bike, took her to a different location, and forcibly made her enter an apartment. Once inside, Prashanth made unwanted advances, touching her and attempting to hug her, to which she vehemently objected.

The room they entered was filled with empty liquor bottles, and after some discussion, they left to purchase more alcohol, locking the girl inside. Seizing an opportunity, the student escaped through the bathroom ventilation, booked an Uber, and reached home.

On Thursday, the girl approached the Masab Tank police and filed a complaint. The police have registered a case under Sections 363, 354-D, 354-A, 342, 506 r/w 34 of the Indian Penal Code and have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
