Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a three-year-old boy died after accidentally falling into a swimming pool at a gated community in the city, police said on Sunday.
Tragic incident at gated community
The incident occurred at Vertex Prime Gated Community in the Hydernagar Kukatpally Housing Board Colony police jurisdiction limits.
The victim, identified as Arjun Kumar (3), was playing within the apartment premises when he reportedly slipped and fell into the swimming pool.
Parents away, child at grandmother’s house
According to the police, Arjun’s parents, who reside in Chintal, had left him at his grandmother’s house in Hyderabad as they had travelled out of town for the holidays. The child was playing in the apartment complex when the accident took place.
Residents noticed the incident only after boy was found floating
As no one noticed the fall immediately, the child remained in the pool for some time. Residents later spotted him floating in the water and alerted family members, who rushed him to a private hospital in Nizampet.
Doctors declare child dead
Doctors attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but Arjun could not be revived. He was declared dead, hospital sources said.
Father points to lack of pool caretakers, CCTV monitoring
The child’s father alleged that the absence of caretakers near the swimming pool and the unavailability of CCTV monitoring staff, despite it being a weekend, contributed to the tragedy. He expressed anguish over the lack of safety supervision in the residential complex.
Upon receiving information, police reached the spot, registered a case, and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
