Hyderabad: 4236 booked for drunken driving, 365 sentenced to jail
Around 365 accused have been sentenced to jail ranging from one day to 15 days.

Police have launched a special drive against traffic violators in the city. Police said 4236 drivers were found under the influence of alcohol in January. Charge sheets were produced against them in the courts. Around 365 accused have been sentenced to jail ranging from one day to 15 days.
A fine of Rs. 94,16,560 has been slapped on the remaining 3315 respondents. All the violators sentenced to imprisonment were sent to Chanchalguda Jail. The remaining 556 violators will also be produced in court after filing charge sheets against them. Police said those convicted for drunken driving and other traffic violations may face difficulties in getting government jobs, passports, and visa clearance.
The violators who committed the offence were also counseled at TTI, Goshamahal, and Begumpet. Police said the drive against drunken driving and other violations will continue for the safety of the commuters on road. Hyderabad Traffic police request all motorists not to drive their vehicles under drunken conditions.
