76-year-old Alzheimers patient goes missing from Alwal in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A 76-year-old Alzheimer's patient has gone missing from his residence at Alwal. K. Sowbhagya Rao stepped out early on August 16, sporting a light blue shirt and black trousers. He didn't tell his family where he was going.

As an Alzheimer's patient, he frequently strayed out of his residence. He was last seen heading toward Venkatapuram on the day he went missing.

The old person has been missing for four days, and the police have yet to locate him.

"A few hours after Rao left his house, a stranger saw him walking towards Venkatapuram," stated the family, who have been asking around about his whereabouts. After making multiple phone calls, the family filed a missing person complaint at the Alwal Police Station at 11:30 a.m. on the day Rao went missing.

"Because he has Alzheimer's, he frequently leaves the house and walks around the neighborhood when he is not being watched. He seldom leaves the house for more than a couple of hours. This is the first time he has not returned home in a long time," a family member stated.

"He is elderly and ill. It is also raining severely. It's been so long, we don't even know if he's had anything to eat all this time," the anxious family explained.

Rao's photo and details have been widely circulated on social media and elsewhere. So far, the family has been unable to relocate him.

According to Upender Rao, the Inspector at Alwal police station, they are trying to find the missing guy.

"We went through all of the CCTV footage in and around Alwal. Rao was last seen on a CCTV video at Suchitra Circle. We've been following a few leads and are doing everything we can to locate Rao," he explained.
