Hyderabad: ‘9999’ fancy car number sold for Rs 19 lakhs; ‘0001’ sold for Rs 8 lakhs

Hyderabad: A bidding frenzy for fancy vehicle registration numbers is sweeping Hyderabad, as car owners eagerly shell out large sums to secure their favourite and lucky numbers.
These unique numbers are increasingly seen as status symbols, driving fierce competition among bidders. A recent auction held at the Transport Department office in Khairatabad on Wednesday generated substantial revenue.
The number ‘TG 09 A 9999’ fetched the highest bid at the auction, selling for a staggering Rs 19,51,111. Honors Developers company secured the coveted number. The auction also introduced the newly launched TG09B series, where the number ‘0001’ was sold for Rs 8,25,000 to NG Mind Frame Company.
Rs 51 lakhs raised from special numbers
Other significant sales included the number ‘0009,’ acquired by Amaram Akshara Reddy for Rs 6,66,666, and ‘0006,’ purchased by AMR India for Rs 2,91,166. Greater Infra Projects obtained the number ‘0005’ for Rs 2,50,149, while Mold Tech acquired ‘0019’ for Rs 1,30,000.
The auction raised a total of Rs 51,17,517 for the Transport Department, according to officials. The substantial sums reflect the growing trend and demand for distinctive vehicle registration numbers in the region.
