Hyderabad: Actress Lavanya Tripathi files complaint against online abuse, flags `Purple Crayon00’ handle

Hyderabad: Actress Lavanya Tripathi has lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police, alleging sustained online harassment and defamatory content targeting her and her family on social media.
According to police, a case has been registered under Section 67 of the IT Act and Sections 78 and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An investigation has been initiated.
Allegations of defamation and obscene abuse
In her complaint, Lavanya stated that an Instagram account named “Purple Crayon00” has been posting abusive and derogatory content aimed at tarnishing her reputation. She alleged that the account has been sharing objectionable posts and comments not only against her but also against her family members.
The actress claimed that the harassment has been ongoing for some time, with the accused allegedly making defamatory remarks intended to damage her personal life and public image.
Targeting personal life and character
Lavanya further stated that several posts and comments contained obscene language and baseless allegations questioning her character and moral values. She described the content as malicious and designed to humiliate her publicly.
Seeking strict legal action, the actress requested the police to identify the individual operating the Instagram account and take stringent measures. She also urged authorities to ensure the removal of the offensive posts from the platform.
Police begin probe
Cyber Crime officials confirmed that a case has been registered, and efforts are underway to trace the person behind the account. Further investigation is in progress.
