Hyderabad: Anti-Encroachment unit of HYDRAA reclaimed 4,400 square yards of parkland at Bandlaguda Jagir in Ranga Reddy district, ending a decades-long dispute and bringing relief to residents.

Parkland reserved since 1989

The land falls under Survey Nos. 96/2 and 96/3, originally notified in 1989 as part of a 125-acre “P & T Colony” layout containing 582 plots.

Two sites, one of 1,200 sq. yds and another of 3,200 sq. yds, were earmarked for public parks but remained undeveloped as private parties obstructed municipal efforts.

Complaints spark action

Years of encroachment and stalled development prompted locals to petition HYDRAA through its public grievance channel.

Commissioner AV Ranganath directed officials to conduct a joint inspection with revenue and municipal staff to verify the layout and confirm the parcels as parkland.

Encroachments removed, fencing erected

Following verification, HYDRAA teams on Thursday cleared unauthorized structures, fenced the boundaries, and placed boards declaring the land as “Reserved Park Area.” The swift measures aim to prevent future encroachments and enable systematic development.

Residents welcome long-awaited relief

Residents of Bandlaguda Jagir expressed satisfaction, calling the move a “long-pending victory” for community open spaces. Many thanked Commissioner Ranganath and the HYDRAA staff for “restoring greenery and protecting the layout’s intent.”
