Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday laid the foundation stone for Hyderabad Metro phase-II project that will connect Mindspace junction to Shamshabad airport. The metro is projected to connect the airport to the main city in only 20 minutes.

Ā· The Hyderabad Airport Express Metro corridor (HAEC) spans over 69kms.
Ā· It is the world's largest metro rail project in a public-private partnership.
Ā· The 31-km long project connects the city from Mindspace junction to the Shamshabad airport.
Ā· It is an entirely state government-owned project with an investment of Rs. 6,250 crores.
Ā· The airport express metro corridor takes off from Raidurg metro station at Mind Space junction, passes through Biodiversity junction and touches Nanakramduda junction.
Ā· The ORR has a dedicated metro rail right of way (ROW) which is being used to build the airport express metro corridor to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
Ā· It is strategically designed to serve citizens by connecting lakhs of people residing in and around the Shamshabad area to employment hubs like the Financial District and other major parts of the city within a span of 30 minutes.
Ā· The HAEC will help with ease of travel for employees working in IT and aerospace industrial clusters and also will become a great connection to Hyderabad Pharma City.
Ā· HAEC will offer a luggage check-in facility at Raidurg metro station. This will help avoid the ever-growing rush and congestion at the airport and also help promote city tourism.
Ā· The metro with a max speed of 120k/hr will enable commuters to reach the airport in just 26 minutes, which makes it the fastest, most comfortable, and most economical way of traveling to the airport.
