Hyderabad Airport launches virtual kiosks and smart maps for flight, emergency updates
Hyderabad: GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (GHIAL), the operator of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), has introduced Virtual Information Kiosks (VIK) and interactive terminal maps to improve passenger services and streamline information access.
Virtual information kiosks at key locations
GHIAL has installed 10 kiosks across the airport, including check-in halls, boarding gates, arrivals and baggage claim areas. The kiosks are powered by a centralised system to ensure that passengers receive accurate and real-time information.
The kiosks provide:
⢠Smart Flight Management: Real-time flight updates accessible through a touchscreen interface or boarding pass scan.
⢠Wi-Fi Access: Passport-based login for international passengers.
⢠Advanced Navigation: 3D terminal maps with QR code options for transfer to mobile devices.
⢠Emergency Integration: SOS alerts connected to medical, fire, and security support.
⢠Passenger Feedback: Direct input channels for travellers to share their experience.
Interactive terminal maps online
Alongside the kiosks, GHIAL has launched interactive digital maps on its official website (www.hyderabad.aero). The maps are designed to help passengers plan their airport journey in advance, offering information on gates, retail outlets, dining areas, parking, arrivals, departures, and other service touchpoints.
Focus on passenger-centric innovation
Speaking about the initiative, Pradeep Panicker, CEO, GHIAL, said, āAt GHIAL, innovation is fundamental to how we operate and grow. As we advance on our journey to becoming a global aviation hub, the deployment of these intelligent kiosks and enhanced digital maps marks a significant step forward in our digital transformation agenda. Designed to enhance passenger convenience, these systems go beyond static information delivery. They are designed to offer passengers seamless support for their airport journey. Whether itās a frequent business flyer or a first-time traveller, our objective remains consistent ā to deliver a seamless, intuitive, and world-class airport experience.ā
Building a smart airport ecosystem
The dual launch of kiosks and interactive maps is part of GHIALās larger vision to create a smart, human-centred airport ecosystem. The integration of physical and digital support ensures that passengers receive timely assistance throughout their travel journey.
