Hyderabad: Approx 550 kilometer of hazardous Low tension overhead electric conductors will be replaced
Hyderabad: The Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TSSPDCL) will be launching a special drive to replace hazardous Low Tension (LT) overhead power lines in the Greater Hyderabad Metro Zone.
This initiative, led by CMD Musharraf Faruqui, aims to enhance public safety by replacing uninsulated conductors with insulated air-bunched cables.

Here are key details of the project
Scope: Approximately 550 km of hazardous LT overhead conductors will be replaced.
Location: The initial phase will focus on the Metro Zone, specifically the Banjara Hills, Secunderabad, Hyderabad Central and Hyderabad South circles. The program will later expand to other areas of Greater Hyderabad.
Objective: The decision follows pole-to-pole inspections that identified a significant number of power lines located dangerously close to houses in slums and narrow lanes.
Timeline: All work in the initial phase is scheduled for completion by the end of this month.
Personnel: The project will be executed by approximately 160 sub-engineers and assistant engineers in the Metro Zone.

Musharraf Faruqui met assistant engineers and sub-engineers and emphasised their critical role in this work.
The work is being taken up as low-tension wires are creating a hazard. Wear and tear of electric lines is also the reason for fluctuations and their maintenance is most important, said Faruqui.
