Hyderabad: BJP Corporator V Sravan, 2 others held for sharing `old unrelated’ rigging video

Hyderabad: Police have taken BJP Corporator V Sravan from 140 division and two others into custody for allegedly sharing the rigging video.

it was wrongly claimed that the video is from Bahadurpura AC of Hyderabad PC, and it shows rigging in the station.

However, the video in question is not from Telangana. Plus it does not pertain to either Assembly or parliament election in Telangana. Further, if one listens to the audio carefully, it is clear that the language being spoken in the video is not Telugu.

Soon after the General elections concluded in Telangana, a video went viral in WhatsApp groups. Multiple people shared it on social media as well.

What was the video about

A video clip that shows the inside of a polling station with the Presiding Officer (wearing a surgical mask) is doing rounds on social media. The clip shows a person (wearing a striped dark blue round-collar T-shirt) standing next to a compartment. People are going into the compartment and coming out, while the person (in the blue striped T-shirt) guides the person going inside the compartment. A beep sound, like that of an EVM, is heard every time a person exits the compartment.

It was claimed that this video is from Bahadurpura AC of Hyderabad PC, and it shows rigging in the polling station.

In response to the viral video, the Election Commission said: “It is hereby pointed out that this is an OLD VIDEO, NOT linked to the Parliamentary election in Telangana or any other election in Telangana.”

Investigations revealed that this video was shared on the YouTube channel TV9 Bangla, on 27th February 2022, and is available at the link below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZoW9z_EDIk Thus, it can be seen that the video in question is neither from Telangana nor does it pertain to either the Assembly election or parliament election in Telangana.

Further, if one listens to the audio carefully, it is clear that the language being spoken in the video is not Telugu. The poll process in the state was conducted in a free and fair manner. We request journalists and citizens to spread the correct information presented herein and debunk claims of rigging in the conduct of Parliament elections in Telangana.
