Hyderabad: Bomb scare via email leads to mass evacuation at City Civil Court
Hyderabad: Multiple bomb threats sent via email to key locations in Hyderabad on Tuesday triggered panic and forced evacuation at courts and other prominent government buildings, while police conducted intense search operations across the city.
Threatening email sent to multiple places
An email received at the City Civil Court in Purani Haveli claimed that RDX-based improvised explosive devices (IEDs) had been planted at four prominent locations, the City Civil Court in the Old City, Raj Bhavan, Gymkhana Club and Secunderabad Civil Court.
Court evacuated amid chaos
The threat created chaos at the City Civil Court as judges, lawyers and clients rushed out of the court halls when asked to vacate the premises. All judicial proceedings came to an abrupt halt due to the evacuation.

Police launch massive search operations
Police teams from Mirchowk Police Station, led by assistant commissioner of police Venkateshwar Rao, along with bomb disposal squads and sniffer dog units, launched thorough searches of the court premises. Senior officials supervised inspections across both old and new blocks of the court complex.
Similar search operations were carried out at Raj Bhavan, the official residence of the governor, as well as at the Gymkhana Club and Secunderabad Civil Court. However, no suspicious objects were found at any of these locations till the time of reporting.

Investigation into source of threat
Initial information suggests that the email was sent in the early hours of Tuesday in the name of some former students of Anna University. Police have begun investigating the origin of the email and are working to identify those responsible for issuing the threats and creating panic.
The City Civil Court is in Purani Haveli near the old Police Commissionerās office and currently houses the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Zone.
