By Anoushka Caroline Williams Published on 15 Dec 2023 9:53 AM GMTHyderabad: Thursday night and the early hours of Friday ushered in a noticeable chill across Hyderabad as temperatures took a dip, according to the Telangana State Development Planning Society.
Departing from the seasonal average, the minimum temperatures saw a significant drop, settling at an average of 13.6 degrees Celsius, notably below the expected 15.2 degrees Celsius for this time of year.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) foresees a continuation of foggy or misty mornings, followed by partly cloudy skies later in the day for the next three days in Hyderabad. Expecting these conditions to persist, the average minimum temperature is forecasted to range between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius.
Breaking down the local temperature readings, the BHEL area recorded the lowest temperature in the city at 11.4 degrees Celsius. Rajendranagar closely followed with 11.5 degrees Celsius, while Moula Ali registered 11.9 degrees Celsius.
Other cold areas included Gachibowli at 12.7 degrees Celsius, Quthbullapur at 13.1 degrees Celsius, West Marredpally and Bandlaguda at 13.6 degrees Celsius each, and Hayathnagar at 14 degrees Celsius. These figures mark the lowest minimum temperatures recorded within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits so far this season.
In response to the weather conditions, a representative from the IMD stated, āThe recorded temperatures indicate a departure from the expected norms, leading to a chilly atmosphere in the city. We anticipate these cooler temperatures to persist in the coming days.ā
With various areas reporting temperatures below the 15 degrees Celsius mark, Hyderabadis brace themselves for colder nights ahead. The recorded figures serve as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of weather patterns, urging locals to stay prepared for further temperature variations in the coming weeks.
