Hyderabad: A seventh-grade student allegedly attacked a teacher with a metal rod after he was caught cheating during the annual examinations.
According to the Begumpet police, the victim, Bandara Venugopal, 45, a school assistant of physical education at Government Boys High School, Bandimet, Pattigadda, was on invigilation duty during the annual examinations that began on April 9.
He caught a student cheating and took disciplinary action by confiscating the student's exam paper and relocating him to the corridor.
Nursing a grudge over the student, reportedly took the school bell rod and waited for Venugopal outside the school premises. As Venugopal exited, the student allegedly struck him twice on the back of his head, causing him serious injuries.
The assault took place in the presence of other staff members. Based on Venugopalās complaint, a case has been registered at Begumpet Police Station, and an investigation is underway
