Hyderabad: CCS inspector Chamakuri Sudhakar caught red handed accepting Rs 5L bribe

Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught an inspector from the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Central Crime Station (CCS), Detective Department, red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh.

Identified as Chamakuri Sudhakar, he was posted at the Central Crime Station (CCS), Detective Department in Hyderabad City.

The accused officer accepted the money at the parking lot opposite CCS (old CP office Basheer Bagh). After noticing the ACB staff, he threw away the bag and started running towards the temple opposite the CP office.

Inspector Satish, constables Munna, Govind Naik, and Harikanth Reddy pounced on Sudhakar before he could melt away.

In a statement, the ACB said Sudhakar was caught demanding a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. He, however, settled at Rs 3 lakh. He was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant Mani Ranga Swamy, a resident of Old Bowenpally, Secunderabad.

Initially, Sudhakar had demanded Rs 15 lakh and had already got Rs 5 lakh in advance. The money was meant to influence the investigation and resolution of a case filed against Swamy with the CCS.

The ACB seized the bribe from Sudhakar's shoulder bag. The fingerprints of both his hands yielded positive results in the chemical test.

Sudhakar was arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally in Hyderabad. Further investigation is on.
