Hyderabad: A home guard deputed to the Central Crime Station (CCS) in the city has been arrested on the charge of raping a teenager. The accused, B Mallikarjuna, 47, is a driver at the CCS.

The police said that Mallikarjuna, a resident of Addagutta under Tukaramgate police station limits in the Secunderabad area, met a minor girl(16) and the two became friends.

After gaining her confidence, he managed to get her to a place of his choice and raped her. He also threatened the girl of dire consequences if she revealed the matter to her parents or anybody else.

Scared, the girl kept quiet about the issue. Two days ago, she fell ill. Her parents grew suspicious and questioned her. She then told her parents about how she was lured in by Mallikarjuna and raped.

The parents immediately approached the Tukaramgate police station and lodged a complaint, following which a case of rape and POCSO Act was registered. Mallikarjuna was arrested and sent to judicial remand on Saturday and the girl has been sent for medical examination, the police officials said.
