Hyderabad: CM Revanth orders LiDAR survey of lakes, nalas, other water bodies to prevent encroachments

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to immediately conduct a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) survey of lakes, nalas, and other water bodies in its jurisdiction.

He said disputes over construction permissions can be avoided and encroachments prevented only when comprehensive data is available.

Strict warning to officials over delays

The chief minister came down heavily on officials for showing negligence in issuing approvals for multi-storied buildings, gated communities, and other projects under the Build Now scheme. He said deliberate delays would not be tolerated.

Irrigation department under fire

Revanth Reddy noted that several complaints had surfaced against Irrigation Department officials regarding obstruction in clearances. He warned that such practices would be dealt with sternly.

Accountability and Disciplinary Action

The chief minister directed the Municipal Administration Secretary to identify officials responsible for the delays and surrender them immediately, stressing that accountability in governance must be ensured.

Inter-department coordination stressed

To speed up approvals, he instructed GHMC, HYDRAA, and Irrigation officials to conduct regular review meetings with HMDA. He said quick and transparent processing of applications was crucial for urban development.

The review meeting, held at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, was attended by commissioners of HMDA, GHMC, HYDRAA, and other senior officials.
