Hyderabad: A woman was brutally murdered and robbed of cash and gold in the Swan Lake gated community, Kukatpally, Hyderabad, on Wednesday evening.
Identified as Renu Agarwal (50), she was found with her hands and legs tied, and fatal injuries to her head and body, after being attacked with a pressure cooker and knives.
According to the Kukatpally police, Renu Agarwal lived with her husband, Rakesh Agarwal, and their son, Shubham. The couple owns a steel shop in Fatehnagar. Their daughter Tamanna is currently studying in another state.
Roshan, a native of Jharkhand, has worked at the home of Renu’s relatives in the same community for nine years. He introduced his village acquaintance, Harsha, as a cook in Renu’s house 11 days ago.
On Wednesday, Rakesh and Shubham left for work, leaving Renu alone at home. Unable to contact her by phone in the evening, the family returned at 7 pm and, with the help of a plumber, entered the house. They discovered Renu lying in a pool of blood in the hall, her hands and legs tied.
Police, led by Balanagar DCP Suresh Kumar, Kukatpally ACP Ravi Kiran Reddy, and Inspector Venkata Subbarao, arrived on the scene with a dog squad and fingerprint experts.
Harsha and Roshan have emerged as prime suspects. CCTV footage showed them leaving the residence with a suitcase, locking the house, and fleeing on a family-owned scooter.
The two allegedly tortured Renu to reveal the location of money and jewelry, tied her up, and attacked her before looting the house. A case has been registered, and the police have formed five teams to search for the accused.
