Hyderabad CP Anjani Kumar, 3 other IPS officers empanelled to hold DGP post

In a spate of development in the state of Telangana, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, and three other senior IPS officers have been promoted to the ranks of Director General of Police.

Hyderabad: In a spate of development in the state of Telangana, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, and three other senior IPS officers have been empanelled for promotion to hold Director General of Police. Senior police officers Umesh Sharraff, IPS(1989), Govind Singh, IPS(1990), and Ravi Gupta(1990) have also been promoted to the ranks of DGP.

Earlier, in a major bureaucratic reshuffle, Telangana Government on Wednesday transferred senior IPS officer M Stephen Raveendra, Inspector General of Police, West zone as commissioner of police, Cyberabad. The present Commissioner V C Sajjanar has been made Managing Director of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation(TSRTC). A Government Order has been issued in this regard.

The Inspector-General of police rank officer M Stephen Raveendra belongs to the 1999 IPS batch and has been serving as IGP, West Zone, Hyderabad. In March, VC Sajjanar, 1996 batch IPS officer was promoted as Additional Director General of Police along with IPS officer Anil Kumar and Charu Sinha.

"M Stephen Raveendra, IPS(1999), IGP, West Zone, Hyderabad is transferred and posted as Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad. VC Sajjanar is placed at the disposal of Transport, Roads & Building Department for posting him as managing Director, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation," said Somesh Kumar, Chief Secretary, Telangana.

On Tuesday, the Government appointed senior IPS officer Anil Kumar as the new intelligence chief of Telangana State. The Additional Director General of Police rank officer Anil Kumar belongs to the 1996 IPS batch and has been serving as Additional Commissioner of Police Traffic wing for the past three years. Retired IPS officer Prabhakar Rao was holding the post as an officer on special duty (OSD).
