Hyderabad: Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar on Wednesday ordered the immediate transfer of Jubilee Hills Traffic Inspector Narsing Rao following serious allegations of bribery linked to the clearing of drunk-and-drive challans.
Police officials took bribes to clear drunk-and-drive cases
Along with the inspector, Sub-Inspector Ashok, Home Guard Keshavalu and Court Constable Sudhakar were also transferred. The action follows complaints that the personnel allegedly collected bribes from motorists in exchange for clearing or diluting drunk-and-drive cases.
According to police, large sums of money were allegedly taken to settle challans related to drunk-driving offences. The complaints triggered internal scrutiny, leading to swift administrative action by the Commissioner.
Zero tolerance on corruption: CP Sajjanar
Reiterating his zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, Commissioner Sajjanar made it clear that no compromise would be made in cases involving misconduct within the police force. He warned that strict action would continue against any personnel found indulging in corrupt practices.
Earlier disciplinary actions
In recent weeks, the Commissioner has already initiated action against two Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and four inspectors on similar charges, underlining the department’s resolve to curb corruption and maintain public trust in the policing system.
