Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, IPS, took everyone by surprise and conducted midnight checks at the homes of noted rowdy-sheeters, warning them against resuming criminal activities and reviewing their current lifestyle and conduct.
Silent patrolling under cover of darkness
The commissioner patrolled areas under the Langar Houz Police Station limits late Sunday night, travelling in a regular patrol vehicle without sirens or visible police protocol. His visit covered MD Lines, Hashim Nagar and Defence Colony, where several individuals with criminal records reside.
Without prior notice, Sajjanar woke up rowdy-sheeters and questioned them about their past cases, current occupation and social behaviour. He clearly instructed them to abandon criminal networks and assured strict action if they relapsed into unlawful activities.
Checks on late-night commercial establishments
During the patrol, the CP moved through key routes and sensitive points under Langar Houz and Tolichowki police station limits.
Shops, eateries and commercial units operating beyond permissible hours in Tolichowki were issued warnings. The commissioner directed business owners to adhere strictly to permitted timings or face enforcement measures.
Review of field policing and staff readiness
Sajjanar interacted with patrolling teams deployed in the field, assessing their vigilance levels, response timelines and preparedness in addressing emergencies.
He also stopped at various patrol points, engaging directly with constables and officers to understand ground challenges and operational gaps.
Later, the commissioner visited Tolichowki Police Station, where he inspected the night duty registers, attendance records and entries in the general diary, ensuring compliance with protocols.
Focus on visible and responsible policing
Speaking about the exercise, Sajjanar said such surprise inspections are part of people-centric policing, aimed at improving public confidence and boosting accountability among police personnel.
He noted that strengthening night policing, rapid response capability and proactive crime prevention remain high priorities for Hyderabad Police.
Clear instructions for continuous vigilance
The commissioner instructed all officers to maintain constant vigilance, enhance visible policing across the city and ensure teams are ready to respond instantly to distress calls.
He reiterated that the city’s safety framework would be continuously monitored and corrective measures implemented wherever necessary.
