Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president Arshanapally Jagan Mohan Rao and secretary Devraj have announced that they have paid the pending electricity bill of about Rs 1.64 lakhs and ended the power dispute with the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL).

He said that they had paid around Rs 15 lakhs as the first instalment during the IPL (Indian Premier League) for the Uppal Stadium and the Rs 1.64 lakhs was the balance left to be paid which was cleared on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Jagan Mohan Rao handed over a cheque of Rs 1,48,94,521 to TSSPDCL CMD Musharraf Ali Farooqui. “Our apex council have cleared the power bills case with TSSPDCL pending since 2015,” Jagan Mohan Rao said.

He said that they considered paying the remaining amount in 4-5 instalments, but ‘keeping in mind the reputation of HCA’, they settled the total bill in a single settlement.

‘Take action against officials who disrupted IPL cricket match’

During the meeting, Jagan Mohan Rao asked Farooqui to take action against the officials who cut the electricity while the cricketers were practising during IPL. “Because of those officials, the image of Hyderabad and Telangana was badly damaged due to the power disruption. IPL teams and cricketers suffered due to the officials,” he said.
