The arrested accused collectively held 61 bank accounts, with a total of approximately Rs 107 crore in transactions recorded

Hyderabad cybercrime cops arrest 55, refund Rs 62.34 lakh to victims of online fraud

Hyderabad: The Cyber Crime Police Station of Hyderabad, in October 2025, registered 196 FIRs and arrested 55 individuals in connection with multiple cybercrime cases.

The crackdown on online fraudsters resulted in Rs 62.34 lakh being refunded to victims.

Meanwhile, the zonal cyber cells registered 130 FIRs, arrested 29 individuals in 27 cases, and refunded Rs 18.22 lakh.

Around Rs 107 crore in fraudulent transactions recorded

The arrested accused collectively held 61 bank accounts, with a total of approximately Rs 107 crore in transactions recorded. Additional Commissioner of Police, Crimes and SIT, M Srinivasulu, stated that the suspects were involved in 136 cases across India, including 45 cases within Telangana.

Types of cybercrime

Special operations in October led to arrests from eight different states in connection with 33 cybercrime cases. The breakdown of offences includes:

Investment and trading frauds: 18 cases

Digital arrest scams: 5 cases

Business frauds: 2 cases

Social media-related offences: 4 cases

Credit card, insurance, loan and job frauds: 1 case each

Telangana: 45

Andhra Pradesh: 24

Gujarat: 7

Maharashtra: 6

Karnataka: 4

Uttar Pradesh: 5

Delhi, Haryana and Bihar: 2 each

Items seized during operations

The police seized 31 mobile phones, 14 laptops, 9 ATM/debit cards, 1 passbook, 3 shell company stamps and 2 SIM cards while conducting the raids.

Police advisory

The Cyber Crime Police have urged citizens to stay alert and avoid falling victim to online fraud. “Fraudsters constantly adopt new methods to deceive innocent users. Prompt reporting can help recover part or all of the lost amount,” officials said.
