Hyderabad: Debt-ridden man arrested with countrymade pistol

By Newsmeter Network Published on 1 Sep 2022 6:26 AM GMTHyderabad: Begumpet police apprehended a man and recovered a country-made pistol, 10 live rounds, and two empty magazines from his possession, Identified as Chalamalasetti Mehar Prakash, he was arrested by a police patrol at the Sector-3 area near Shyamlal buildings.
On August 30, , the Sub-Inspector of Begumpet Police Station KGangdhar along with three constables were on a patrol at the Sector-3 area. When they reached Majestic Mansion Apartments. they saw a man roaming suspiciously. He was carrying a bag. When he saw cops, he tried to flee from the spot. However, one of the constables stopped him to check his antecedents. The 47-year-old man was staying at Majestic Mansion Apartment, Shyamlal Building in Begumpet.

Police said the accused is a native of Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh. In 2004, he came to Hyderabad to earn a livelihood. He worked as a road contractor from 2012 to 2018. For 5 years, he made good earnings from his business. Later he suffered losses due to insufficient funds. He took Rs. 2.84 crore loan from his relatives and friends. In August 2021, he fled to Chennai.
He later went to Pune where he stayed for 20 days. He then went to Bengaluru. He switched off all his phones to avoid loan recovery calls. He decided to carry a pistol for his safety illegally. He searched online and came to know that pistols are sold in Bihar. In October 2021, he went to Sita Kund Village, Munger District in Bihar, and purchased a country-made pistol along with 10 rounds and two empty magazines for Rs.22000. He returned to Bengaluru and stayed there for some time.
Later, he went to his in-laws' house at Padmarao Nagar in Hyderabad to meet his family. However, he fought with his brother-in-law. He took out his pistol and threatened his brother-in-law before fleeing from the spot. Last month, he came to Hyderabad to sell his bike and meet his family members.
