Hyderabad DEO appraises election observers about surveillance teams

Hyderabad: ā€œSurveillance teams are working continuously to conduct peaceful elections for the ensuing elections to the Telangana State Assembly,ā€ said Hyderabad district election officer (DEO) and commissioner of GHMC Ronald Rose at a meeting with the election observers. The DEO explained the work done by the different departments to the election observers.

The nodal officers from different departments appraised the works done by their respective departments to the election observers. The DEO said, in order to control the illegal distribution of liquor, cash, and precious metals, three flying squad teams for each of the 15 Assembly Constituencies, a total of 45 teams, are working round the clock.

Poll-related seizures continue

Three Static Surveillance Teams (SST) and Video Surveillance Teams (VST) drafted for each Assembly Constituency collected Rs 3.45 crores worth of cash and precious metals on Saturday and seized Rs 1.95 crores. The nodal officer from the police department informed that the flying squad seized Rs 46.81 crores.

Similarly, the nodal officers of state and central GST, RBI, Income Tax, SLB Bank Narcotics, Excise, and Transport have updated the election expenditure observers about their seizure of illegal liquor, cash, precious metals, ganja and other narcotics.

To control the flow of the above items, 18 integrated check posts have been established. Further, the sale of liquor at liquor shops is being supervised from the control room from time to time, through the CC cameras provided at 178 liquor shops. The GPS system is also attached to the vehicles of various surveillance teams for better monitoring.

The teams of expenditure observers inspected the MCC (Model Code of Conduct) control room, Suvidha, c-Vigil, and Voters Helpline 1950 control room where the DEO explained the functioning of the above sections.

The officials present at the meeting included nodal officers appointed from state and central government departments officials, Hyderabad police commissioner Sandeep Sandilya, additional commissioner of police Vikram Singh Maan, district collector of Hyderabad and deputy DEO Anudeep Durishetti, additional commissioner, election expenditure observer Sharath Chandra and others.
